About Gabriela's

Originally established in 1992, Gabriela's was the brainchild of famed restaurateur Artie Cutler and family friend Gabriela Hernandez. After tasting Gabriela's cooking Artie knew that he wanted to have a restaurant that featured these kinds of authentic flavors and dishes in a time when tex-mex was king. Gabriela brought in her family from Mexico who developed the original menu and recipes still in use today. It was an instant Upper West Side sensation!

Still family owned, Artie's nephew Nat Milner  carries on the torch today.

Gabriela's Restaurant and Tequila Bar provides  Home Style Mexican food in a modern and fun neighborhood  setting.   Gabriela's is a fantastic place to celebrate and enjoy your friends and family!

Gabriela's Restaurant and Tequila Bar's menu is a fiesta of flavors and influences from throughout Mexico.  All of Gabriela's favorite family recipes from the Guadalajara area are included, such as Cochinita Pibil,  Al Pastor Tacos,  Carnitas Uruapan and Enchilada Suizas.   But additionally she added regional classics that were special to her family.  Dishes like Pollo Yucateco from the Yucatan, Ceviches from the pacific coast, or the rich moles from Oaxaca.  These dishes all have special meaning for the family through shared memories  and are feasted upon during times of celebration.       

Like most families, ours gathers and celebrates around food as well. The simple act of breaking bread with loved ones bonds relationships and creates memories.  Thats what we are all about at Gabriela's Restaurant and Tequila Bar.  While our food, drink and hospitality are all fantastic, the special sauce is YOU!  You choosing to celebrate  your friends and loved ones with us is the greatest of all compliments.  Your energy, love and excitement is what brings us alive!  Come see why Gabriela's is where the neighborhood comes to celebrate!  We look forward to celebrating with you!

Jaime Santos

EXECUTIVE CHEF

Jaime Santos began his career at Gabriela's Restaurant and Tequila Bar in 1998.  He quickly became sous chef working under Gabriela's Uncle Hector.  Chef Santos reopened with us in 2006 and was celebrated with the Executive Chef title in 2015.  He continues to expand his knowledge and skills through culinary arts trainings and collaboration.  He is truly a master chef!

Moises Galarza

Director of Operations

Moises Galarza began with Gabriela's Restaurant and Tequila Bar as a server back in 2000.  Mr. Galarza quickly separated himself as a natural leader through his in depth knowledge of restaurant operations coupled with a long history in hospitality.   He is a Tequila aficionado, master mixologist, and is our master food taster as he reflects back to his childhood home in Mexico City.  Overseeing Gabriela's Restaurant,  Gabriela's Taqueria and other new projects,  Mr Galarza keeps our party rolling!

Francisco Ortega

General MANAGER

Francisco Ortega has been at Gabriela's Restaurant and Tequila Bar since 2007.  Another hospitality expert, Mr. Ortega's passion for food and attention to detail has taken Gabriela's hospitality program to the next level.  Always willing to go the extra mile, Mr. Ortega's dedication and focus on what matters makes him a natural leader.   He brings the spirit of celebration to every table!
